1. Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and Receift ("Receift", "we", "us"), operator of the Receift application and website at receift.com ("Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you confirm that: (a) you have read and understood these Terms; (b) you are at least 18 years of age; (c) you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement; and (d) you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you use the Service on behalf of a business or organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Description of service

Receift is a personal receipt management application. It lets you capture, store, organise, and review receipts using optical character recognition ("OCR") powered by PaddleOCR running on our own servers. Features include:

The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial use. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time without liability.

3. User accounts

To access the Service you must register with accurate, current information and keep it updated. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your credentials and for all activity under your account.

Notify us immediately at codingkansvce@gmail.com of any suspected unauthorised access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We may investigate and take action — including account suspension — against anyone who violates these provisions.

5. Intellectual property

The Service and all its contents — software, design, text, and functionality — are owned by Receift or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

You retain full ownership of your receipt images and data. By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to process and store it solely to provide the Service. This licence ends when you delete your content or close your account.

6. OCR accuracy & limitations

Do not use Receift as your sole record-keeping system for tax, accounting, audit, or legal purposes. Always retain original receipts and consult qualified professionals for financial and tax advice.

OCR is an automated technology and is inherently imperfect. Extracted data may contain errors depending on image quality, receipt format, lighting, and other factors. You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying extracted data before relying on it. Receift does not provide accounting, tax, or financial advice.

7. Billing & subscriptions

Free accounts are subject to a monthly scan limit. Paid plans (monthly or annual) are billed in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account settings.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details. Refund requests are handled case-by-case — contact codingkansvce@gmail.com.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that extracted data will be accurate or complete.

Some jurisdictions do not permit certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receift and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, financial loss from inaccurate OCR data, or tax penalties arising from incorrect record-keeping.

Our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to Receift in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) NZD $50.00.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or fraud.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Receift and its affiliates from any claims, damages, costs, and legal fees arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms; (b) your use of the Service; (c) content you upload; or (d) your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting codingkansvce@gmail.com or using the account deletion feature in the app.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your access ceases immediately and we may delete your data subject to our retention obligations. Sections 5, 8, 9, 10, and 12 survive termination.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand. We reserve the right to seek injunctive relief in any court to protect our intellectual property rights.

13. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect, and by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, you must stop using the Service.

14. General provisions

Entire agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Receift regarding the Service.

Severability: If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

Assignment: You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them freely.

Force majeure: We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemic, or internet failures.

No agency: Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
